"The Author, Toussaint, Ulysse wrote Superheroes of Service: An Immigrant Story, after experiencing the overwhelming love, kindness, compassion and support that was shown to his country, Haiti, after the January 12, 2010 earthquake that killed over 300,000 people and left 1.5 million homeless. Toussaint wrote this book to say “merci beaucoup” to all those who have served his country. The mission of the book is to promote service learning and civic mindedness, fight bullying, encourage critical thinking, and raise more kindness warriors. This mission is fulfilled by giving the readers the opportunity to participate in the 21+1 good deeds challenge posted at the end of the book. Additionally, there is a grayscale version of the entire book to enable the readers color the pages, put themselves in the shoes of the characters, and write their own service story. This is not just a book, this is a movement, an invitation to leave our comfort zone, to explore and discover the superpowers (personal skills) we have to serve our community and the world. Lastly, Toussaint wrote this book to inspire the readers to pursue their passions and dreams."
